Bookhitch.com was conceived as the first of its kind - a "portal" for unique books that links publishers and authors directly to their readers. Operating under a simple business model, bookhitch eliminates the need for a middleman in the book distribution chain, allowing publishers and authors to collect the profits instead of losing a substantial portion of their sales margin to outside vendors.
Bookhitch.com offers two types of listing services:
- Free Listing - publishers/authors can add an unlimited number of print, digital, and audio titles.
- Premium Listing - publishers/authors can enhance their free listings for $19.95 per year/per title with the following promotional features:
- a full-color display of the book cover
- an expanded, 120-word book description
- an author biography
- book reviews
- a separate web page, with a URL that can be placed on publisher/author websites
- the book(s) featured (randomly) on the bookhitch homepage
- book videos/trailers
- first chapter previews
